Should I use Mouthwash Daily?

Mouthwashes should be used only if needed. There are various types of mouthwashes and While choosing a mouthwash may seem like a no brainer and something that your chemist can advise you, the mouthwash that is right for you keeping in mind your oral health is something that only your dentist can advise you. Given that we strongly believe and advise prevention to our patients, we provide customized mouth washes and gels to our patients. A quick and safe solution until you visit your dentist would be to do warm saline (salt water) rinses regularly post meals.

What type of toothbrush and toothpaste should I use?

Always use tooth brush which has access to all areas of the mouth ( small is better than very big one ) , use toothbrush with soft bristles so that it does not damages the teeth & gums.

For children below 6 years use tooth paste with fluoride with caution as they may swallow it. Above 6 years you can give tooth paste with fluoride.

For seniors use tooth paste with desensitizing agent with the consultation with your dentist as with age tooth roots may get exposed.

Use good flavour of tooth paste which kids likes, to motivate them for brushing.

How do fillings work?

Dental caries is a degenerative process; it done not cure by itself so during filling caries is removed & filled with appropriate material to prevent caries from spreading further. Filling is very good prevention measure one can take for long term dental health.

What is fluoride and why is it important to dental health?

Fluoride makes your teeth resistant to cavities. To prevent caries & if you have very high caries rate/index you can take help of fluoride tooth paste, mouthwash, fluoride application by dentist.

Can diabetes patients have dental Implants?

According to a 2016 study on dental implants and diabetes, researchers found that When diabetes is under well control, implant procedures are safe and predictable with a complication rate similar to that of healthy patients. People with poorly controlled diabetes are at greater risk for dental problems. They're more likely to have infections of their gums and the bones that hold their teeth in place because diabetes can reduce the blood supply to the gums. High blood sugar may also cause dry mouth and make gum disease worse.

Also, in patients with diabetes age may matter more than usual. This is because the longer you've had diabetes, the more prone you are to infections and slower healing processes. If you have diabetes and are interested in getting dental implants, sooner is definitely better than later in most cases.

What is dental implant?

A dental implant is used to replace your single or multiple missing teeth. It is small titanium screw that can be placed in place of root of the tooth. Implant and implant supported tooth/teeth are fix replacement.
